SO!! the basic gist of this animated series that I have in my brain is Magical Girls but it's Transgender.
Basically, there's some sort of alien species of cat [maybe that modern cats on earth descended from] that are looking to invade earth for reasons I'll come up with later, and one of those cats sees that this is wrong, and comes to earth to enlist some humans to help fight to protect their planet with help from alien technology [basically the crystals that help them transform].
These four multicolored crystals are attuned to four high schoolers, one of which [carmen] is the one who recruits the other three.
In this show, the Magical Girl Transformation is something that brings them empowerment through magical weapons/being able to fight for themselves, and the joy of self expression, through each transformation being in tune with their ideal gender expression. This is the most self indulgent oc story ive ever made and it brings me so so much joy
Eventually in the plot there'll be themes of antifascism and queerness and stuff, but for now I just have the beginnings of the plot and a whole lotta character stuff for the main four, and the other guy that I came up with the whole thing around.
OH ALSO!! ive got my slimy lil aromantic paws all over the plot. everyone is really close friends and theres NO romance and its NOT any less meaningful because of the lack of romance or sex
